Volunteers for most events must be 18 years old or older.

Volunteer Opportunities
The Mutt Hutt is an off-site boarding facility for adult dogs. We typically keep around 4-8 at a time. These are behavioral cases that are being assessed. Their stay can range anywhere between days to months.

OUT OF STATE:
SPACAR transports 50-70 animals every month to Maine. See our Maine page for more information.

Keepers of
the Fluff
Keepers of the Fluff meet at Skiatook Paws and Claws headquarters to play with adoptable cats and insure cages are clean and safe.
*2 hour shifts are scheduled once a week am or pm*
How you can help:

Poo Crew
On occasion SPACAR houses puppies at our headquarters location. Volunteers socialize puppies, clean puppy areas, and feed and water them.
*1 hour shifts are scheduled once a week am or pm*
How you can help:

- Medicate (if needed)
- Feed and Water
- Socialize puppies 4 times per day
Fostering
Fostering fulfills a crucial part of SPACAR's life-saving work, not to mention it can be an incredibly enjoyable and rewarding experiences. Foster terms can range from a week to several months depending on the animal and the amount of networking (via photos/updates you send us). SPACAR provides you with everything you need to properly care for the dog or cat while it's in your care.
If you are able to open your heart to an animal in need but aren't ready for the commitment, fostering is for you!
SPACAR provides each animal the following while in your care:

All vet care, including but not limited to, all vaccines, spay/neuter, heartworm check, fecal check, deworming, and microchipping.

A crate to be used while the foster animal is in your care.

Food for foster animal while in your care.
-
Leash, collar, and ID tag.

When needed, transport to and from vet appointments and events.

All foster applicants must meet the following:

Must be at least 18 years of age.

Must own home or have landlord approval.

Must have a valid ID with current address.

Must have a good reference from current veterinarian:

ALL current pets must be spayed/neutered.
-
ALL current pets must be up to date on all vaccines.
-
ALL current pets must be current on heartworm prevention.

Agree to a home visit when board members think appropriate.
